Judwaa 2 Film Review By Manya Malhotra

Judwaa 2

3
Comedy
Cast: Varun Dhawan(×2) , Jacqueline Fernandez , Tapsee Pannu , Rajpal Yadav
Director: Father (David) Dhawan
Story: Two twins are separated at birth only to be reunited many years later . Chased by menacing villains and themselves chasing after pretty girls these judwaas have a lot in store for them!
Review: First let's get over with the bad part.
This film is seriously outdated and quite sexist. Scenes which might have worked in the original fail to do the trick this time . Forcibly kissing a girl and then giggling away with her , calling a middle aged woman Khatara Gadi , flirting around with the house staff while your girlfriend's father is standing in the background and seemingly enjoying the whole episode is just not ok!  We have a mother who throws  her daughter at a rich hot- shot and a boy kissing  his future girlfriend's mom!  The film industry has been progressing in a big way and scenes like these Just set us way back . I get the fact that we are not meant to take this film too seriously but there is a thin line between what is funny and what is just plain offensive! Also it is mentioned in the film that  the reflexes of both the brothers are connected so if 'ek ko jitni chot lageygi doosre Ko utna hi dard hoga ' then how come ' ek jitna kamzor padega doosre ko utni hi taakat meleigi' !
Now coming to the good part
This film does make you laugh . Shot in beautiful locations topped with chartbuster songs Judwaa 2 is an entertaining watch . Chalti hai Kya 9 Se 12 lifts the spirit of the film!  It has plenty of one liners that will tickle your funny bone.
Varun Dhawan does an incredible job and his energy is unmatchable! Not once does he falter as he switches from the naive and earnest Prem to the rowdy and crude Raja! This is one of his best performances and I felt  he pulled off Prem better though he did justice to both the characters . His growth as an actor has been remarkable! The two leading ladies are more like supporting actors and show up occasionally during songs and to squeal in excitement or to forgive the hero for the many mistakes that he commits . We have seen Jacqueline Fernandez  in these kind of roles plenty of times so we know we have to expect a gorgeous girl batting her eyelids away! I have to admit she does a phenomenal job at that! Perhaps to balance out her films after doing two films on women empowerment Tapsee  Pannu does a film which has just the opposite effect!  She dances well but she is a bit weak in the batting her eye lids department . From a football travelling half way across the city to Varun Dhawan dancing  and mimicking famous heroes this film has it all! So you can either sit and find logic in the film and fail miserably or go with the flow and enjoy this double- trouble saga! Given Dhawan juniors massive fan following and judging by the claps , laughs and full halls this film will set the cash registers ringing!

Having seen the original Judwaa I can say that Varun Dhawan makes a better Raja and Prem than Salman Khan!

Saiyaara: A Film Review and My Thoughts on Its Reception- By Manya Malhotra

Saiyaara: A Film Review and My Thoughts on Its Reception   Saiyaara Reception and Backlash Saiyaara opened to an 84 crores net domestic box office figure on its opening weekend, a feat unheard of for a film with newcomers, in an industry still recognised as primarily star-led. (For context, the two major films starring newcomers in the past 13 years- Dhadak and Student of the Year, earned 33.65 and 30 crores respectively). I have been a Bollywood (or Hindi film industry) fan for as long as I can remember. Seeing one of its films get such a massive reception has been heartwarming, and I cannot remember the last time a film got so much love. It has now been two weeks since the film’s release. I have read both positive and negative reactions to the film’s unprecedented success, and after digesting it all, I thought it was finally time to revisit my blog and pen down my honest opinion on both the film and everything that has followed since its release. Skeptics will spin many t...

Darlings Film Review By Manya Malhotra

Darlings Film Review By Manya Malhotra Cast :   Alia Bhatt, Vijay Verma, Shefali Shah, Roshan Mathew, Rajesh Sharma, Vijay Maurya Director:   Jasmeet K. Reen   Review :   Darlings is co-written by writer-director Jasmeet K Reen and Parveez Sheikh, who has films like Queen to his writing credits. It stars powerhouse performers like Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, and Vijay Verma — and is also Bhatt’s maiden film as a producer. Clearly, the expectations with this one are very high— and yet it still manages to make an impact.  Darling s tells the story of Badrunissa who suffers physical and psychological abuse at the hands of her husband before one day finally deciding to retaliate.  Make no mistake, Darlings is not an easy film to watch. It is infuriating but also determinedly terrifying. It lets you breathe but is also dangerously unsettling.    The first half of the film is the hardest to watch....

Ek Villain Returns Film Review By Manya Malhotra

Ek Villain Returns Review ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Cast : Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, John Abraham, Tara Sutaria Directo r: Mohit Suri Review: Ek Villain Returns is the smiley face-filled sequel to the Blockbuster film Ek Villain . If you did not get the smiley reference, you should probably  check out the first film in the franchise—or not if you value your sanity even a little. I went into the hall for Ek Villain Returns highly sceptical, and willing to wholly suspend disbelief. My decision to do so paid off greatly as I denied myself my usual urge to protest exasperatedly when the hero, or villain, or whatever humiliated and terrified a famous singer to clear the stage (literally) for an up-and-coming artist who he happened to fancy. I also bought it when, impressed by this charming gesture the girl ended up falling head over heels in love with the man.   This is Director Mohit Suri’s world, here love always coexists with pain...
