Review: The Horror comedy genre is something that always fascinates me . So when such a film was being included in one of the most successful comedy franchises in the industry I just had to watch it on the big screen! The film starts off on an interesting note and manages to hold your attention . Just when you feel the director has lost his grip on the film and you are about to take your first yawn the madness begins! The audience could not stop guffawing at the brilliantly executed comedy scenes. Especially the one just before the interval. Each character is crafted out well and characters are not just there to add to the numbers. The women here are not limited to eye candy and are given a meaty role. Even the Ajay Devgn - Parineeti Chopra love angle does not seem silly and the age difference factor is taken in a light hearted manner . It stops before it starts getting weird. There is a dose of emotion here too but the director does not get carried away. It is an art in itself to make a film look spooky and funny at the same time without overdoing it . This comes with its own problems and some scenes are puerile and all over the place . Of course 40 something men chasing each other around the house , tricking each other and fighting like 10 year olds seems far from believable . But then , Mr Shetty made it very clear that we should expect 'No logic Only Magic.' ( Though the magic reduces a bit in the second half.) The songs do not have any recall value except for the title track . As for the performances , all are extremely good and everyone gets their characters down to the T.
Ajay Devgn has done a pretty good job as he plays the fearless angry man by day and the scared and timid 'baby' who needs a lullaby to sleep by night. Unlike his previous films , in this one he does not play the serious guy who's voice does not undergo a change in tone throughout the film and that is a welcome change. Shreyas Talpade is superb and has perfected his lisp in this one , he perhaps invokes the most laughs. Tabu is seen experimenting here and Is absolutely flawless . There couldn't have been a better choice of actress for this kind of a role. Parineeti Chopra is good too and does not try to be someone she is not . This film does not promise to be a revolution having multiple plot twist and turns ( though it does have one rather absorbing twist that I did not expect before I saw the film) . What it does promise to be is a Masala entertainer made to make you Laugh , and that is exactly what it does . This is definitely the best of the four films in the franchise , watch this one and light up your Diwali!
