The Greatest Showman Film Review By Manya Malhotra

The Greatest Showman

4.5
Musical
Cast: Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson
Director: Michael Gracey
Story: A period drama narrating the story of PT Barnum , the first man ever to form a group of 'curious' people and put together a circus.
Review:This is a film about making your dreams come true. It is about following your desires to whichever unexplored corner they take you to, and most importantly this is a film about being yourself!  A visual spectacle, "The Greatest Showman" tells the touching tale of a man who opened the first ever circus! A unique yet simple story put together on screen with so much grace and all heart is so refreshing. The effortlessly thrilling narrative is just lovely! Foot tapping music helps in driving the marvel of a story forward. Mostly , all the artists in the circus were simply dancing and it would have been nice to see them trying their hands at different stunts. Nevertheless, that doesn't stop the movie form treading on the path of victory , a victory so glorious, achieved  just by a novel and lucid idea. This movie is a celebration of life and makes one acquainted with the beauty of human kind and the fact that everyone is special in their own way.
Hugh Jackman's transformation from the murderous Wolverine into the wide eyed dreamer who wears his heart on his sleeves is commendable. He's seen singing here as well! Quite a talented ring master one would say! Zac Efron  is back again and is as delightful as ever!  It is so great to watch him singing on screen again , the last I can remember seeing him do so was during his High school musical days! He brought a certain earnestness to the role which was worth watching! Another Disney discovery, Zendaya is here too and she mesmerises you with her trapeze stunts. I must add that She has quite a melodious voice! I really wish that Zac and Zendaya had a bigger part to play in the movie. Michelle Williams and Rebecca Ferguson are good too!
Please do go and watch this stunning movie that is pleasing to the eyes and the heart! You come out of the theatre feeling so much better about yourselves!

Saiyaara: A Film Review and My Thoughts on Its Reception- By Manya Malhotra

Saiyaara: A Film Review and My Thoughts on Its Reception   Saiyaara Reception and Backlash Saiyaara opened to an 84 crores net domestic box office figure on its opening weekend, a feat unheard of for a film with newcomers, in an industry still recognised as primarily star-led. (For context, the two major films starring newcomers in the past 13 years- Dhadak and Student of the Year, earned 33.65 and 30 crores respectively). I have been a Bollywood (or Hindi film industry) fan for as long as I can remember. Seeing one of its films get such a massive reception has been heartwarming, and I cannot remember the last time a film got so much love. It has now been two weeks since the film’s release. I have read both positive and negative reactions to the film’s unprecedented success, and after digesting it all, I thought it was finally time to revisit my blog and pen down my honest opinion on both the film and everything that has followed since its release. Skeptics will spin many t...

Darlings Film Review By Manya Malhotra

Darlings Film Review By Manya Malhotra Cast :   Alia Bhatt, Vijay Verma, Shefali Shah, Roshan Mathew, Rajesh Sharma, Vijay Maurya Director:   Jasmeet K. Reen   Review :   Darlings is co-written by writer-director Jasmeet K Reen and Parveez Sheikh, who has films like Queen to his writing credits. It stars powerhouse performers like Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, and Vijay Verma — and is also Bhatt’s maiden film as a producer. Clearly, the expectations with this one are very high— and yet it still manages to make an impact.  Darling s tells the story of Badrunissa who suffers physical and psychological abuse at the hands of her husband before one day finally deciding to retaliate.  Make no mistake, Darlings is not an easy film to watch. It is infuriating but also determinedly terrifying. It lets you breathe but is also dangerously unsettling.    The first half of the film is the hardest to watch....

Ek Villain Returns Film Review By Manya Malhotra

Ek Villain Returns Review ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Cast : Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, John Abraham, Tara Sutaria Directo r: Mohit Suri Review: Ek Villain Returns is the smiley face-filled sequel to the Blockbuster film Ek Villain . If you did not get the smiley reference, you should probably  check out the first film in the franchise—or not if you value your sanity even a little. I went into the hall for Ek Villain Returns highly sceptical, and willing to wholly suspend disbelief. My decision to do so paid off greatly as I denied myself my usual urge to protest exasperatedly when the hero, or villain, or whatever humiliated and terrified a famous singer to clear the stage (literally) for an up-and-coming artist who he happened to fancy. I also bought it when, impressed by this charming gesture the girl ended up falling head over heels in love with the man.   This is Director Mohit Suri’s world, here love always coexists with pain...
