The Zoya Factor Film Review By Manya Malhotra

The Zoya Factor

⭐️⭐️⭐️
Romantic Comedy
Cast: Sonam K Ahuja, Dulquer Salman, Sikandar Kher, Sanjay Kapoor, Angad Bedi
Director: Abhishek Sharma
Story: Zoya Solanki becomes the lucky charm of The Indian Cricket team and even starts a budding romance with skipper , Nikhil Khoda. Trouble ensues when Zoya gets more than what she bargained for.
Review: Sonam K Ahuja has already established herself as bollywood’s  go- to actress for playing goofy characters. After The Zoya Factor she will now also be known for bringing ‘exotic’ actors (Fawad Khan and now Dulquer Salman) to the Hindi film industry.  In our country, there is only one thing that unites all  religions, genders and “castes” and that is superstitions. The Zoya Factor,  based on a book written by Anuja Chauhan by the same name , takes a dig on the superstitious nature of us Indians. The film never does anything more or less than that. It is not made with the aim to send out some sort of a social message on the evils of superstitions. The Zoya Factor Just tries to be a fun film that will hopefully put a smile on the faces of the viewers, and that it does manage to do to some extent. Now, the premise of the film is very interesting, how a bunch of cricketers and then the whole country considers the presence of one girl to be the reason for Team India’s victory.  However, the execution of the film does not match up to it's interesting premise.  Some scenes in The Zoya Factor are unnecessarily dramatised with jarring background music. Most of the Second half is fuelled by silly misunderstandings between the leads and the occasional corny dialogues. There is even a compulsory negative character in the form of Angad Bedi to add to the drama.
Sonam Kapoor is decent as Zoya Solanki, the lucky Charm of team India. However, the real scene stealer here is Dulquer Salman. He exudes charm into his character of Nikhil Khoda, the captain of the Indian cricket team. He plays his role with the necessary confidence and charisma. Angad Bedi is in good form as the “villain type guy” and Sikandar Kher and Sanjay Kapoor follow their brief for the film, which must have been ‘ be at your annoying best.’
The Zoya Factor is a silly but sweet, illogical but innocent romantic comedy.  The film may not have the “X factor” but it’s “Zoya Factor” is not unappealing either.

Saiyaara: A Film Review and My Thoughts on Its Reception- By Manya Malhotra

Saiyaara: A Film Review and My Thoughts on Its Reception   Saiyaara Reception and Backlash Saiyaara opened to an 84 crores net domestic box office figure on its opening weekend, a feat unheard of for a film with newcomers, in an industry still recognised as primarily star-led. (For context, the two major films starring newcomers in the past 13 years- Dhadak and Student of the Year, earned 33.65 and 30 crores respectively). I have been a Bollywood (or Hindi film industry) fan for as long as I can remember. Seeing one of its films get such a massive reception has been heartwarming, and I cannot remember the last time a film got so much love. It has now been two weeks since the film’s release. I have read both positive and negative reactions to the film’s unprecedented success, and after digesting it all, I thought it was finally time to revisit my blog and pen down my honest opinion on both the film and everything that has followed since its release. Skeptics will spin many t...

Darlings Film Review By Manya Malhotra

Darlings Film Review By Manya Malhotra Cast :   Alia Bhatt, Vijay Verma, Shefali Shah, Roshan Mathew, Rajesh Sharma, Vijay Maurya Director:   Jasmeet K. Reen   Review :   Darlings is co-written by writer-director Jasmeet K Reen and Parveez Sheikh, who has films like Queen to his writing credits. It stars powerhouse performers like Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, and Vijay Verma — and is also Bhatt’s maiden film as a producer. Clearly, the expectations with this one are very high— and yet it still manages to make an impact.  Darling s tells the story of Badrunissa who suffers physical and psychological abuse at the hands of her husband before one day finally deciding to retaliate.  Make no mistake, Darlings is not an easy film to watch. It is infuriating but also determinedly terrifying. It lets you breathe but is also dangerously unsettling.    The first half of the film is the hardest to watch....

Ek Villain Returns Film Review By Manya Malhotra

Ek Villain Returns Review ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Cast : Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, John Abraham, Tara Sutaria Directo r: Mohit Suri Review: Ek Villain Returns is the smiley face-filled sequel to the Blockbuster film Ek Villain . If you did not get the smiley reference, you should probably  check out the first film in the franchise—or not if you value your sanity even a little. I went into the hall for Ek Villain Returns highly sceptical, and willing to wholly suspend disbelief. My decision to do so paid off greatly as I denied myself my usual urge to protest exasperatedly when the hero, or villain, or whatever humiliated and terrified a famous singer to clear the stage (literally) for an up-and-coming artist who he happened to fancy. I also bought it when, impressed by this charming gesture the girl ended up falling head over heels in love with the man.   This is Director Mohit Suri’s world, here love always coexists with pain...
